
Bank-e-loom has taken similar steps in different capacities across Uttar Pradesh. It is organizing several meetings and training with group of homemakers; to teach them how to operate social media tools since these platforms are becoming hub of information. Learning computers is slowly becoming a fun and educational activity for children and community members of Saidanpur & nearby villages. Bank-e-loom is steadily seeing more and more enrolments from different demographic groups.
Similarly, DCDP has been actively summoning progress and digital empowerment in other clusters as well. DigiKala in Nuapatna, Bihar has been conducting computer training and tailoring classes. Currently three batches of computer training are underway while, there are two batched enrolled for the tailoring course at DigiKala centres. To further facilitate these trainees, 2 network connections were established; of 10mbps and 1mbps respectively. DigiKala is growingly seeing more weavers at their computer centers with a growing hunger to learn.
In Barpali district too, DigiKala has been running digital literacy classes and has benefited many individuals to seek good jobs. In the month of September, computer literacy training programs were also conducted in Manamedu village, Musiri, along with evening tution classes and newspaper reader group.
In September 2018, DEF Founder-Director Mr Osama Manzar had been nominated for India Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2018, and baank-e-loom was selected by the Awards committee to represent DEF and the work done by the organisation. The team visited schools, and interacted with community members, village heads, and some of our wireless beneficiaries.
