Internet is transforming our lives faster than we realise. However, almost 70 per cent of rural and semi-urban India is still far from being connected. The world has shifted to digital mediums for primary source of information but a large part of India is still living in information darkness even though the medium of digital has the power to drive transformation. With this in mind, DEF in association with the Government of India’s Digital India programme is all set to explore the utility of digital platforms in highlighting traditional and diverse knowledge systems through Prayag.
Prayag is India’s first Grand Digital Mela that celebrates people, practices and innovations in the space of digital. Scheduled to be held on February 25, 2017, Prayag will bring together DEF’s flagship Manthan Awards, eNGO Challenge and District Collector Digital Champion Award on the same day at Surajkund Mela Ground in Faridabad, Haryana.
At Prayag, we are expecting a crowd of 10,000 attendees, which will include thousands of NGOs, hundreds of educational institutions, innovators, musicians, artists, artisans and weavers among others. Together, we will converge to mark the digital movement in India, and engage in entertainment, grassroots and tribal wisdom, invigorating discussions, enriching networking, path-breaking ideas and ICT innovations, revitalising un-conferences, energetic workshops and a mega exposition of more than 500 stalls.
